MLX for accountancy practices

Start the client review with the work in view.

Your team's understanding of an engagement is spread across people, checklists and practice systems. Bring approved context into a shared Twin, and prepare a consistent view of what is due, what is missing and who needs to act.

Start with one practice workflow. No production client data needed for the first conversation.

01 · The preparation

The same preparation, client after client.

Before a partner review, someone checks the engagement tracker, follows up an incomplete checklist and asks the team for the latest position. A familiar process becomes a fresh search every time. The useful outcome is a review brief that keeps the underlying evidence and responsible person in view.

02 · A representative workflow

Prepare the engagement review from the records behind it.

Start with approved engagement milestones and document-checklist metadata. Inspect the resulting brief, open its source records and confirm the position with the engagement team.

The question

Which engagements have a review milestone this week, which checklist items remain outstanding, and who owns the next step?

Engagement A · illustrative

Checklist complete

Ready for the scheduled partner review under the agreed checklist definition.

Source: synthetic checklist A · all required items recorded

Engagement B · illustrative

One item outstanding

An outstanding checklist item stays visible, assigned to the engagement manager.

Source: synthetic checklist B · follow-up required

Illustrative workflow using synthetic engagement metadata, not a live customer result. Checklist readiness does not mean an audit opinion or tax position has been approved. No client accounts, payroll or tax records are shown.

03 · The useful outcome

Reuse the preparation. Keep the professional judgement.

A consistent review brief

Start from the same milestones and checklist definitions each week, so preparation becomes a process your team can reuse.

Clear follow-up ownership

Bring the next recorded action and the person responsible into view. Keep missing ownership visible.

An answer you can inspect

Follow the brief back to the records before relying on it. Your team keeps the professional judgement.

04 · What to verify

Bring a question your engagement manager can check.

The first demonstration should use a small, clearly scoped set of practice records. Compare the review brief with the checklist. Include an incomplete engagement and confirm that it stays visible. Agree how client access must work before extending the demonstration into live practice use.

This workflow starts with engagement and checklist metadata. Client accounting data, additional systems and cross-client views require their own scope and access review.

05 · Start with one workflow

Prove the review before rolling it out.

  1. Choose the recurring job.

Pick the meeting or handoff that creates repeated preparation.

  2. Agree the evidence.

Define sources, permissions, review format and acceptance checks.

  3. Test it with the team.

Review the output with the people who own the work before expanding.

A clear scope, with three parts to the price.

Twin subscriptions start from £1,000 per month. Add forward-deployed engineering at £1,200 per day where needed, and optional AI credit packages for model usage. Confirm sources and delivery effort before starting.

06 · Your questions

Clear boundaries before you start.

Does this replace our practice-management system?

The proposed workflow starts from the systems you already use. We first confirm the source connection and records required, together with any integration work.

Can we use it across all our clients?

Client scope, permissions and the commercial arrangement need to be agreed. We validate the intended boundaries before broadening access. A reusable workflow does not mean a shared data boundary for every client.

Will it provide tax advice or sign off accounts?

This example prepares an operational review. It does not provide an audit opinion, approve accounts or replace professional judgement.

Can we offer MLX to our clients?

Discuss a partnership with Mercury Labs. Distribution, delivery responsibility and commercial terms are a separate conversation from using MLX inside your own practice.

Your first workflow

Show us the preparation you repeat.

Bring one client-service review and the steps your team follows today. We will discuss what a useful first workflow should produce and how to test it.

For your own practice, request a workflow conversation. Partner delivery and commercial terms are scoped separately.
